Trading Hours in Wall Street – New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ from the United States

 

The stock exchanges in Wall Street, which are the NYSE and NASDAQ, are operating at the same times on every trading day. In New York, those times are 9:30am to 4pm, Monday – Friday.

But when you decide to become a day trader, you should check what are your trading hours.

Wherever you live in America or Canada, you can easily get to day trading – even if you have a full time job!

NYSE trading hours Eastern Time

 

9:30am to 4pm if you are trading from Central Time.

Some of the cities where trading times are 9:30am – 4pm are New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando.

So if you live in New York, Jersey, Mariland, or Pennsylvania – and work full time – you can easily pop out of the office during lunchtime and get an hour of so of trading, which is not too bad! Remember, Meir Barak, founder of Tradenet, only trades about one to one-and-a-half hours per day!

The states in Eastern Time are Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia
West Virginia – all in which trading times are 9:30am – 4pm.

NYSE trading hours Central Time

 

8:30am to 3pm if you are trading from Central Time.

Some of the cities where trading times are 8:30am – 3pm are Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Akron, Detroit, and Minnesota.

Let’s say you live in Chicago, Dallas, Twin Cities, Milwaukee, or St. Louis. If you need to leave home at 9:30, you can even get an hour of trading before your full time work – and you can also trade at lunch time from the office. Check what are the best nyse trading hours.

The states in Central Time  are Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Texas, Wisconsin – all in which trading times are 8:30am – 3pm.

NYSE trading hours Mountain Time

 

7:30am to 2pm if you are trading from Mountain Time.

Some of the cities where trading times are 7:30am – 2pm are Denver, Salt Lake City, and Boise.

Are you from Salt Lake City? Or maybe from Boise? Well, you’re in luck! Even if you have to leave to your full time job at about 8:30, you have a good hour of trading before doing so! Isn’t that just perfect?

Some of the Mountain Time Zone states are Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming – all in which trading times are 7:30am – 2pm.

NYSE trading hours Pacific Time

6:30am to 1pm if you are trading from Mountain Time. Some of the cities where trading times are 6:30am – 1pm are Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Portanld, Seattle. Living in sunny California? Either Northern or Southern – that’s great! You can trade for about two hours before you start your normal day! The states are California, Oregon, Washington – all in which trading times are 6:30am – 1pm.

NYSE Trading Pre-Market and After-Market

 

Pre trading and post trading hours: Meir Barak, a world leading stock trader, does not trade in the pre trading stage. Barak says: “I’ve tried to trade the pre trading hours for years. It never works. It’s only for big banks to trade between them. Any other option is doomed to fail”.

  • On days like thanksgiving, Christmas Day and a few other holidays – trading is closed throughout the day.
  • On some other days, like the Third of July; Black Friday; and Christmas Eve – the market closes early, just at 1:00pm
